1、 Introduction to the Research Institute

The Institute of Laser Spectroscopy is a first-class academic research institution of Shanxi University, and one of the units constituting the State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Optical Quantum Devices. In 1989, Professor Jia Suotang, the leader of the discipline, conducted research on laser spectroscopy. In 2000, the Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory was established, and in June 2010, it was adjusted to a first-class research unit of Shanxi University. In June 2013, it was renamed the Institute of Laser Spectroscopy of Shanxi University.

The Institute of Laser Spectroscopy currently has 24 professors, 11 associate professors, 39 researchers with doctoral degrees, and 8 overseas distinguished professors. Among them, there is one Chief Scientist of the National Major Research Program, two Chief Scientists of the National Key R&D Program, two National High level Distinguished Professors, one recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, four recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, one academician of the German Academy of Sciences, three recipients of the Ministry of Education's Cross Century/New Century Excellent Talent Fund, two academic and technological leaders in Shanxi Province, and five outstanding young and middle-aged innovative talents in higher education institutions in Shanxi Province, There are 6 young academic leaders in higher education institutions in Shanxi Province, 12 high-level specially appointed experts in Shanxi Province, 3 young specially appointed professors of the Three Jin Scholars in Shanxi Province, and 27 "Three Jin Talents" in Shanxi Province.

The Institute of Laser Spectroscopy at Shanxi University mainly engages in basic and applied research on the interaction between light and atomic molecules, precision spectroscopy, and quantum information. The established experimental platforms include ultra-cold molecular physics platform, ultra-cold Rydberg atomic platform, single-molecule spectroscopy and dynamics platform, high-resolution spectroscopy application platform, micro nano optoelectronic materials and device platform, etc.

The research institute focuses on academic exchange and cooperation. Researchers have been to NIST, Harvard University, Rice University, University of Maryland, Hopkins University, National Science Center of France, Durham University in the UK, Heidelberg University in Germany, Leiden University in the Netherlands, Leuven University in Belgium, Japan University of Electrical Communications, Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences in Taiwan, China and other relevant research institutions for academic exchanges and cooperative research. The research institute hosted the Autumn Conference of the Chinese Physical Society in 2004. In December 2006, the Beijing Jin Laser Youth Scientists Academic Forum was held. The 5th Asia Pacific Quantum Information Science Symposium was organized in August 2010. In December 2011, the third Central Six Provinces Photonics Science Development Forum was hosted. In July 2013, the 5th National Optical Youth Academic Forum was hosted. In October 2014, we hosted the 17th Laser Science Seminar. The second Rydberg Atomic and Molecular Academic Symposium was held in August 2017, and the first Youth Forum on Laser Spectroscopy Technology was hosted in October 2017; In October 2017, we hosted the 5th Quantum Simulation Seminar. In 2019, I hosted a Quantum Science and Technology seminar. In June 2020, we jointly organized a workshop on "time/spatial resolved investment on nanomaterials for optoelectronics and energy" with Nanjing University and Longde University. In September 2020, we hosted the 5th National Conference on Environmental Optics and the 2020 Academic Annual Meeting of the Environmental Optics Professional Committee of the Chinese Optical Society.
